What is the difference between home renovation and home remodeling?

If you're simply refreshing your space with new finishes and fixtures, you're renovating. However, if taking out or adding walls and changing the floor plan of your home, you are remodeling. Adding to the overall size or footprint of your home would be considered an addition.
